Why scrubbing fails
A timeline shows you where sound is, not what was said. You drag, listen for two seconds, drag again, and after a few rounds you are no longer sure whether the sentence is in this recording or yesterday’s. The problem grows with every recording you keep. Text solves it because you can search it, and the transcript already knows where each word sits in the audio.
Step 1: search the words you remember
Type the part you remember: a name, a number, a place, an unusual word. Mnemo searches the transcripts of all your conversations at once, including words you corrected by hand, and lists each match with its conversation and day. If you remember roughly when it happened, the Today timeline shows the day in context.
Step 2: open the passage and play from there
Tap a result and the conversation opens at that passage. Play starts from that point, so you hear the sentence in its own voice and context. How long audio is available depends on how it was captured: a Session keeps its audio for 7, 30 or 90 days, or until you delete it; Notebook moments keep only their text after 24 hours. When audio has expired, Mnemo says so instead of pretending it can still play.
Step 3: ask when you don’t remember the words
Sometimes you remember the topic but not the phrasing. Type a question in Ask, such as “what did we decide about financing?”. Mnemo retrieves the moments that match and shows them with their sources. A written answer is composed only from those moments and needs Apple Intelligence on iOS 26 or an AI key you connect yourself. With a weak match or no provider, Mnemo shows the sources and tells you why, rather than inventing an answer.
Make future moments easier to find
- Add a bookmark while recording, from the Live Activity, the Dynamic Island or Control Center.
- Correct names and terms once. Corrections are searchable, and the raw transcript stays untouched, so you can always see what was originally transcribed.
- Re-transcribe with another language or model if the first pass struggled. Mnemo makes a new linked copy and keeps the original.
- Name speakers in the review screen so you can tell voices apart when reading.
Take the moment with you
Export a conversation as SRT or WebVTT subtitles with timings, as Markdown, TXT or JSON for notes, as CSV for tasks, or as PDF from the share sheet. A readable preview comes before the system share sheet, so you see what you are about to send.
Limits
- Search works inside Mnemo. Mnemo transcripts do not appear in iOS Spotlight.
- Search can only find what the transcript contains. Mnemo publishes no accuracy figures, so check important quotes against the audio.
- Mnemo is for iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or later and is not yet on the App Store.

How do I find a specific part of a recording on iPhone?
Search its transcript. In Mnemo, search covers every conversation at once and each result opens the passage and plays the audio from that point while it is kept.
Can I search inside audio recordings?
Mnemo transcribes recordings on the device and makes the text searchable, including your corrections, so you can search the words rather than the audio.
Does editing the transcript change the original?
No. The raw transcript never changes. Corrections are stored separately, can be undone and are searchable.
What happens when the audio has expired?
The text stays searchable. Mnemo shows that the audio is no longer available instead of offering a play button that cannot work.
