# Mnemo > Mnemo is a voice memory app for iPhone and iPad: it records conversations, transcribes them on the device, and lets you search across days and open the exact passage and audio behind every answer. No accuracy, speed, battery or user figures are published because none have been measured on real speech. ## Facts - Platforms: iPhone and iPad, iOS 18.0 or later. Not available on Android or the web. - App Store name: "Mnemo: Voice to Text". Category: Productivity. - Capture: Sessions of four types (Meeting, Interview, Quick note, Dictation), started in the app or from a widget; Control Center starts a Quick note; the Live Activity and Dynamic Island pause, resume, stop and bookmark. - Notebook: optional, off by default. It keeps the text of each moment and deletes its audio 24 hours after the moment ends, unless the user keeps that conversation as a Session. - Session audio retention: 7, 30 or 90 days, or until deleted. - Pause for 15 minutes, 1 hour or until tomorrow; forget the last 5 or 15 minutes. - Transcription always runs on the device. Engines that could run off the device are refused in code; recordings are never sent to a speech service. - Engines: Apple Speech on the device (iOS 26 uses Apple's newer engine; iOS 18–25 the previous on-device recognizer); free Whisper Small (491 MB), or Whisper Base (151 MB) on devices that do not support Small; Pro adds Whisper Large v3 Turbo (631 MB) and Parakeet v3 (632 MB, 25 European languages). - Language: choose one or use automatic detection. Re-transcription creates a linked copy and keeps the original. - The raw transcript never changes; corrections are separate, reversible and searchable. - Search: full-text search across every transcript, corrected words included. Mnemo transcripts do not appear in iOS Spotlight. - Ask: retrieves matching moments and shows them with links to the passage and audio. A written answer is composed only from those moments and needs Apple Intelligence (iOS 26) or an AI key the user connects (Anthropic, OpenAI or an OpenAI-compatible server on the user's own computer). Without a provider, or with a weak match, the sources are shown with the reason. - Skills: nine built-in (Fix grammar, Make concise, Translate to English, Draft a reply, Meeting minutes, Study notes, Flashcards, Quiz, Mind map) plus user-created Skills. Automatic Skills always use the on-device model. - Speakers: review, name, merge and unlink. Pro adds neural speaker separation on the device. No speaker-accuracy claim is made. - Exports: Markdown, TXT, JSON, CSV tasks, SRT, WebVTT; PDF through the share sheet after a readable preview. - Import: open audio files from Voice Memos, Files or Mail in Mnemo; they are transcribed on the device. - The Mnemo keyboard is free; its dictation key opens Mnemo to record and needs Full Access. - App interface: 20 languages. - Mnemo records what the iPhone microphone hears. It never joins Zoom, Teams or Meet calls and has no integration with them. No team workspace, no live captions. ## Privacy boundary - No Mnemo account. No analytics SDK. - Out of the box, processing is set to on the device only. - Routes that can reach the network, only when the user chooses them: model downloads the user confirms (they send no recording or text); an AI key or private computer, which receives transcript text when the user runs Ask or a Skill by hand; optional iCloud sync of transcripts and metadata (off by default, never audio); webhooks the user configures. - Privacy Mode blocks those off-device routes, including work already queued. ## Pricing (configured, not yet purchasable) - The app is free, with no recording quota: capture, the free on-device model, Apple Speech, library, search, basic exports and the keyboard. - Pro unlocks exactly: Whisper Large v3 Turbo, Parakeet v3 and neural speaker separation. If Pro lapses, recordings and transcripts are kept. - Pro Monthly EUR 3.99, Pro Annual EUR 29.99, Pro Lifetime EUR 79.99 (one-time). No free trial is configured. Apple localizes prices by storefront. - Lifetime covers current and future local Pro features. A future hosted service with recurring infrastructure cost may be offered separately. ## Direct answers ### What is Mnemo? No. Transcription always runs on the iPhone and recordings are never sent to a speech service. iCloud sync is optional, off by default and never includes audio. ### Does Mnemo need an internet connection? The transcription model runs on your iPhone and can work without a connection; Mnemo 1.0 is still in final qualification. The model download needs a connection, as do an AI key or iCloud sync if turned on. ### Is Mnemo an alternative to Otter? For recording on your own iPhone with on-device transcription and no bot in the call, yes. For Zoom, Teams or Meet integration, team workspaces or Android and web apps, Otter is built for that job.
