1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Use govern your use of PaperMind, a macOS application published by COBI Management SRL, trading as HighRoad Software, a company incorporated in Belgium.
By downloading, installing, purchasing, or using PaperMind, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use PaperMind.
2. License
Subject to these terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use PaperMind on Mac computers that you own or control for personal or internal business use.
PaperMind is licensed, not sold. We and our licensors retain all rights not expressly granted in these terms.
3. Purchases and paid features
PaperMind may be offered with a free core plan and an optional one-time Full Unlock purchase. Final pricing, taxes, and local currency are shown by the Mac App Store or the applicable checkout provider before purchase.
The Full Unlock is not a subscription unless the purchase screen explicitly says otherwise. Access to paid features depends on successful purchase validation by the platform or license system used for your build.
Refund handling depends on where you purchased. Mac App Store purchases and in-app purchases are handled by Apple. Direct-download purchases, if offered, are handled according to the checkout provider's refund process and applicable consumer law.
4. Mac App Store terms
If you download PaperMind from the Mac App Store, your use is also subject to Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions and any applicable Apple standard end user license terms.
Apple is not responsible for providing maintenance or support for PaperMind. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms for App Store customers and may enforce these terms as applicable.
5. Restrictions
You may not:
- Redistribute, resell, rent, lease, or sublicense PaperMind
- Share, transfer, or misuse a license or purchase entitlement
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive PaperMind source code except where allowed by law

6. AI models and third-party services
PaperMind may support local models, model runtimes, or external AI providers depending on the installed build and your configuration. You are responsible for complying with the licenses, terms, and policies of any model or third-party service you choose to use.
We do not control third-party models or services and are not responsible for their availability, pricing, behavior, output, or data handling.
7. Your documents and local data
You retain ownership of the documents you import into PaperMind. We do not claim rights in your documents, extracted text, embeddings, indexes, prompts, or generated answers.
PaperMind stores working data locally on your Mac. You are responsible for keeping backups if your documents, indexes, chats, or settings are important to you.
You are responsible for ensuring that your use of PaperMind with your documents complies with confidentiality duties, intellectual property rights, export rules, and other applicable laws.
8. Updates and availability
We may provide updates that fix bugs, improve performance, change features, or adjust compatibility. Some updates may require a newer macOS version.
We may change, suspend, or discontinue PaperMind or specific features. If we discontinue the app, your existing installed copy may continue to work, but we cannot guarantee compatibility with future macOS versions.
