Terms of Use
These Terms govern your use of ScoutBar. The app is licensed, not sold, and ScoutBar Pro is unlocked through Apple In-App Purchase.
Contents
1. Agreement to terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of ScoutBar, a macOS application published by COBI Management SRL, trading as HighRoad Software ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading, installing, or using ScoutBar, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. License grant
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use ScoutBar on Mac computers that you own or control for personal or internal business use.
ScoutBar is licensed, not sold. All rights not expressly granted remain with us and our licensors.
3. ScoutBar Pro
ScoutBar Pro is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase that unlocks content search, hybrid boolean queries, the disk usage explorer, the cleanup assistant, and full indexing controls. It is not a subscription and does not expire. Pricing is set in App Store Connect at the time of purchase and may vary by region or currency.
Apple processes the payment, receipt, family sharing, refunds, and taxes under Apple's own terms. ScoutBar receives only a verified entitlement from StoreKit. A Restore Purchases action is available in the app at any time to re-apply a previously completed purchase tied to the same Apple ID. Refunds, when granted by Apple, automatically revoke the Pro entitlement at the next entitlement check.
4. Restrictions
You may not:
- Copy, resell, sublicense, or distribute ScoutBar except as permitted by law or Apple distribution terms.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble ScoutBar except where such restriction is prohibited by law.
- Use ScoutBar to violate law, regulation, or third-party rights.
- Attempt to bypass purchase validation, app sandboxing, or security controls.
5. File cleanup features
ScoutBar can help identify large files, generated artifacts, caches, and other cleanup candidates. These suggestions are informational and may require your judgment. Cleanup actions move selected files to Trash after confirmation, but you remain responsible for reviewing files before acting.
6. App Store terms
If you download ScoutBar from the Mac App Store, Apple's standard licensed application end user license agreement applies unless these Terms provide additional permitted use. Apple is not responsible for support or maintenance for ScoutBar.
For a copy obtained through Apple, these Terms are between you and HighRoad Software, not Apple. Apple has no duty to provide maintenance or support. HighRoad is responsible for product and intellectual-property claims to the extent required by law. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of the purchase price; other remedies remain HighRoad's responsibility. You must comply with third-party terms and represent that you are not in a sanctioned country or on a prohibited-party list. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries and may enforce these Terms. The licence is limited to Apple-branded devices you own or control, subject to Apple's Usage Rules, including eligible Family Sharing.
7. Termination
This license is effective until terminated. It will terminate automatically without notice from us if you fail to comply with these Terms. You may also stop using ScoutBar at any time by deleting the app from your Mac. Apple may, at its discretion, remove ScoutBar from sale or distribution at any time. Termination does not entitle you to a refund except where required by law or Apple's policies; refund eligibility is determined by Apple under their App Store terms.
8. Disclaimer and liability
ScoutBar is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or business opportunities. The cleanup features move files to Trash with confirmation; you remain responsible for reviewing items before approving any action.
9. Consumer rights
Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer under the law of your country of residence. If a provision of these Terms is unenforceable under mandatory consumer law in your jurisdiction, that provision applies only to the maximum extent permitted by law; the remainder of these Terms continues in force.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by Belgian law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence continue to apply.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as ScoutBar evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
