The price comparison, stated honestly
Spotify lists Premium Individual at €11.99/month as checked on 18 July 2026. Twelve months at that unchanged price would be €143.88; promotions, regional price changes and plan changes can alter the total. Verify Spotify’s current local plans.
SongForge’s App Store Connect setup currently lists a planned €29.99 non-consumable Pro unlock in euro storefronts. It is a one-time price plan, not a public product yet: real StoreKit loading, purchase, restore, revocation and distribution evidence are still incomplete. It would be misleading to present the planned price as a live offer or to promise unlimited creation before that path is validated.
The useful comparison is therefore not “which app is cheaper?” but “am I paying to listen to a catalogue every month, or planning to buy a local creative tool once?” Some people will reasonably need both.
How quickly can SongForge make something?
A signed-build local measurement produced a 2 min 13 s dance-house track in 70 seconds with ACE-Step 1.5 Turbo Q8_0 on the test Apple-silicon Mac. It is evidence of one local run, not a universal promise. Read the complete method, output details and limitations.
Do not confuse a local file with cleared rights
SongForge does not claim ownership of a user’s output, but copyright, model licence, prompt content and applicable law still affect use. A locally generated file is not automatically cleared for every commercial use. Spotify’s catalogue is separately licensed for listening under Spotify’s terms. Review the relevant terms before publishing, distributing or monetising audio.
Who is each for?
Spotify is the clear fit for listeners who want released music, discovery, playlists and supported-device playback. SongForge may fit songwriters, producers and video creators who want to sketch a musical direction privately, keep iterations on a Mac and accept model setup plus hardware-dependent speed. Neither is a replacement for a full DAW, music-distribution service or rights-clearance process.
