Photos or PhotoClip?

Use Apple Photos when you want to manage or edit your library. PhotoClip is designed for a smaller task: bringing a view of that library into reach from the menu bar, then previewing, copying or exporting selected items.

Keep Photos for managing the library

PhotoClip does not replace Photos. It does not offer library editing or deletion. For the features and workflows of Apple’s app, consult the official Photos User Guide.

Use PhotoClip for a compact view

PhotoClip offers recents, favorites, screenshots and video views. Hold Command for multiple selection. Copy applies to still images; use Export for videos. Version 1.0 is in preparation, so no public download is available yet.

Understand the privacy boundary

PhotoClip has no account or developer-controlled backend. Photos may download iCloud items. Exported files and the system clipboard follow the locations and macOS settings you choose.

Before choosing

If you need editing, albums or a complete library-management workflow, start with Photos. If you prefer a dedicated menu bar interface for accessing media, follow PhotoClip’s release status.
