Disclosure. HighRoad publishes TELL, so this is first-party analysis, not an independent review. TELL was submitted to App Review on 5 September 2026; its public App Store listing is not live.
Three different jobs
| Approach | Best when | Trade-off | TELL |
|---|---|---|---|
| Two-phone question ritual | You are together and want a focused conversation | Requires both people and two nearby iPhones | 50 free prompts; paired Bluetooth/local-Wi-Fi flow |
| Shared journal | You want to write at different times | Less immediate and no live listening moment | TELL is not a shared cloud journal |
| General couples app | You want routines, coaching or a wider feature set | May involve accounts, subscriptions, cloud data or reminders | No account, ads, cloud upload or collected data |
| Physical question cards | You want a screen-free prompt | No local record unless you make one independently | Optional recording begins with explicit consent and stays local |
Start with privacy and consent
Check what a product asks for before a conversation begins: an account, contact access, analytics, a subscription or a cloud backup. TELL does not need an account or internet connection for its nearby paired flow. Camera and microphone access are only for its optional recording feature; recording begins only after explicit consent and the result stays on the recording iPhone.
Do not confuse a record with a public feed
A keepsake can be meaningful without being shareable content. TELL’s local library is for the person holding the recording phone. It is not a social feed, cloud album or partner-sync promise. A device owner’s own backups and sharing choices are separate from TELL.
Price and availability
TELL includes 50 free prompts. Optional TELL+ adds 30 prompts at USD 4.99 monthly or USD 34.99 annually; Apple presents the final regional amount before purchase. The App Store record is ID 6808926031, but the public listing is not live. Do not treat this guide as a purchase page.
